What I Couldn't Talk About
VOL. 1 • ISSUE 2
"God dammit, everybody needs to read your book."
👆🏻 That was my Dad's passionate testimonial after I published Reignite Your Spark in 2018.
My first thought?
"Maybe I need to hire him as my marketing manager." 😳
Because while my dad was convinced everybody needed to read the book...
I spent the next several years doing a remarkably good job of avoiding talking about it.
And I talk for a living. 😏
Not because I didn't believe in the message.
But somewhere along the way, I treated publishing a book the same way I treated most achievements in my life:
✔ Do the thing.
✔ Check the box.
✔ Move on to the next thing.
The one-woman show.
The retreats.
The workshops.
The communities.
The drama, trauma, and occasional shitastrophies of life.
I never stopped talking about reigniting your spark.
I just stopped talking about the book.
Then, four years into leading Reignite Your Spark retreats, I had an uncomfortable realization:
While I was busy teaching everyone else how to reignite their spark...
I'd lost my own.
Not in a dramatic, crash-and-burn sort of way. It was subtle…quietly feeling disconnected from myself and my mission.
At first, I thought I needed a vacation.
Then I thought I needed rest.
Instead, I ended up taking a sabbatical.
What I didn't realize at the time was that I wasn't looking for a break.
I was looking for my spark.
Eventually, that search led me back to the thing I'd spent years avoiding:
The book.
So this spring, I rewrote it. Not because I wanted a second edition.
Because I wanted it to feel like me again.
And this version of me?
She doesn’t want to do it alone anymore.
Somewhere along the way, I realized the best parts of my life have never happened in isolation.
They happened in community.
In conversation.
In shared stories.

Sooo… Want to go on an adventure with me?
This summer...
Maybe you'll read a chapter on your deck with a cup of coffee before the rest of the house wakes up.
Or listen to an audiobook chapter while you go for a walk.
Maybe you'll laugh at the ridiculousness of some of my decisions.
Maybe you'll see yourself in a story and realize you're not the only one.
Maybe you'll release a few tears you've been holding onto.
Maybe you'll remember something about yourself you'd forgotten.
And maybe, somewhere between the first chapter and the last...
something begins to spark in you again.
By September 17, when the rest of the world hears the audiobook and gets their first look at the 2nd edition of Reignite Your Spark…
You'll have spent an entire summer reigniting your own spark. ❤️🔥
